    A Day in the Life of a Project Management Team Lead:

     

    The Project Management Team Lead is responsible for the delivery of enterprise projects and the support and training of the larger organization under the supervision and guidance of the Manager of the Project Management (PMO) department. The Project Management team lead works directly with senior business stakeholder’s to deliver projects throughout the organization.  The purpose of this position is to develop, execute and lead projects, help mentor, coach and manage new members to PMO, train the larger organization on project management and help support management of the project management department.  

    Responsibilities

    • Liaison between PMO team and PMO leadership team to manage incoming requests, delegate to team members based on area of focus
    • Support and mentor Project Management department staff
    • Serve as a point of contact for company departments as it relates to PMO requests
    • Ensure that PMO team produces quality materials that meets the client’s need and deadlines while upholding PMO standards
    • Management of the PMO SharePoint site and the Meridian Methodology Repository
    • Oversight of the project delivery process to ensure that the quality of the product for distribution meets the PMO guidelines
    • Prepare production activity reports and presents to PMO Manager
    • Proactively identifies opportunities to improve PMOs team workflow processes
    • Monitor competitor products and activities related to project management best practices
    • Maintain knowledge by attending workshops; reviewing professional publications; participating in professional societies
    • Maintain strict confidentiality of employee and organizational information
    • Foster a participatory and collegial team atmosphere in interactions with others; act as role model to other staff
    • Provide feedback to management concerning possible problems or areas of improvement
    • Make recommendations to implement improved processes
    • Perform other duties as assigned

    Qualifications

    What you can bring to Meridian:

     

    Education:

    • Bachelor’s degree in healthcare or business related field is required
    • PMP certification, or similarly applicable credentials, is highly suggested 

    Experience:

    • 3-5 years of experience in project delivery, preferably in a managed care or consulting environment is preferred
    • Experience in coaching, mentoring, supervision of team members, including compensation, career development and training plan development
    • Experience in developing and delivering presentations to various types of audiences is required
    • Experience in managing committees is required

    Knowledge:

    • Knowledge of PMI’s Knowledge Areas
    • Knowledge of project management processes and methodology
    • Knowledge of managed care principles a plus
    • Knowledge of State Managed Medicaid rules and regulations a plus
    • Knowledge of Medicare rules and regulations a plus
    • Knowledge of quality and process improvement strategies
    • Knowledge of National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA), URAC or general accreditation requirements a plus
    • Knowledge of people, budgets and recognition,
    • Knowledge of team and individual goals/objectives development 

    Skills:

    • Excellent oral and written communication skills
    • Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio and Access
    • Strong organizational skills
    • Demonstrated initiative, resourcefulness, creativity, and self-motivation

    Abilities: 

    • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
    • Ability to prioritize
    • Ability to develop and deliver effective training and/or presentations to varying groups
    • Ability to synthesize large amounts of information into easily understood talking points
    • Ability to analyze data, identify barriers and opportunities for improvement and develop strategies to address them.
    • Ability to organize and manage groups and committees to ensure progress toward identified goals
